I wish I had something more exciting to report aside from fun in the sun, but alas, I really don’t. Too bad. π We had a lot of fun on Sunday here in Cancun though! The last member of our party arrived around mid-morning (she wasn’t able to come on Friday, so she flew in yesterday instead), so we basically did the same thing we did on Friday and Saturday, but with seven people instead of six. Fun, right? And she got an awesome room, too! I guess that’s the benefit to coming in a couple of days later. I imagine a number of people had checked out when she arrived, especially since we’re at the tail end of the spring break season, so there were probably a lot more room options. So I’m maybe a little bit jealous of her non-musty, king-bedded, balcony-having, ocean view room. But that’s okay. π
Sadly, I (along with most of our group) already have some sunburn. Ugh. Despite applying and re-applying sunscreen throughout our entire time here, we’ve still gotten burned! It’s undoubtedly because of our time in the pool because we’re usually about chest-deep in the pool, so the sun is reflecting up off the water to give us some nasty burns. We’re spending most of day four (Monday) in the shade by the pool, so hopefully that will help. I wish I had an awesome tip to help other people avoid getting burned, but if you’re going to be in the sun for a week, just accept that you’re going to get burned. Don’t let that stop you from putting on sunscreen in the first place though! I can only imagine how much worse off we’d be without having put it on throughout the day.
Aside from burning ourselves, we also went to a cabaret-type show at Kinky, which is one of the night clubs at the resort. It wasn’t a bad show! We were assuming it would be a drag show and, while it was hosted by a guy in a drag-type outfit, it wasn’t what I would call a drag show. The show is called High Heels and it featured a collection of male and female dancers doing various routines. They were all really talented! Especially since both men and women alike were doing their moves in heels. Needless to say, they all had great legs!
I only have internet on my iPad here, so I can’t share much in the way of pictures, but I did bring it poolside to write this post and I snapped a couple of pictures so you can see where we are:
The view of the ocean from one of the resort pools. The water is so blue!
Looking towards our hotel pool, where we’re spending most of our time.
Yes, the weather is great, but all of my Minnesota friends shouldn’t be too upset – I heard it was 70 there yesterday!
Oh wow, that ocean water looks fantastic!
As for tips on how to not get burned: don’t spend six months holed up indoors. (I.e., don’t live in Minnesota.) π
Good point! π
